My girlfriend and I spent 3 days(March 08-11) in Giorgio's House. We had a great time. Palermo is a very beautiful Town!Very old and many momuments to see there! Giorgio's House is in the heart of the town.Just a few minutes walking from Cathedral and Palazzo dei Normanni! Our room was nice and big and the breakfast great....so....Sicilian! :o) The by night tour was very nice and we had the opportunity to know all the other guests and stay all together walking around the town. We also went with Giorgio and all the other Guests to Cefalu and climbed to the Rocca!Such a beautiful day! We'll come back for sure :o)

We had a great weekend at Giorgio's house. The Reddy Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Giorgio was an excellent host and very generous with his time and advice. He picked us up from the train station and took us straight to the house pointing out all the sights along the way. In the evening he took all the guests on a lovely night walk of the city and then we had a meal in a restaurant in one of the squares. On the Sunday we were driven to the National Park Zingaro and hiked along the cliffs, having lunch in a cove with some spectacular scenery.Giorgio loves travelling. He makes visiting Palermo easy, he is good company and yet gives his guests freedom and privacy. I would thoroughly recommend Giorgio's House.

We had a great stay at Giorgio's House. It went far beyond what you might expect from a bed and breakfast, especially given the low price. The location, while not in a ritzy area, was very close to the city center, and we did not feel unsafe at all. The rooms were nice and breakfast was delicious, but it's really Giorgio himself that makes this place great. He's funny and friendly and was very helpful throughout our stay. Highly, highly recommended!

Giorgio was the best host we could have asked for. He took us on numerous wonderful FREE day trips and night tours. We loved hiking along the coast with him! The atmosphere in his guest house is fantastic for meeting fellow travelers over a yummy breakfast. We have moved on to Lipari and then to the Amalfi Coast and we still have not found a place we enjoy more than Palermo with Giorgio! Thank you Giorgio!!

I've just returned from a 2 week trip to Italy, and Giorgio's was the best place I stayed. I should mention that I stayed in hostels elsewhere, but if your travelling on a small budget and you plan to pass anywhere near Palermo, skip the HI and stay at Giorgio's. Apart from being a genial host the place is clean and tidy, the beds comfortable and the breakfast big. Thanks Giorgio.

Giorgio really made the trip!!! It was like seeing an old friend. The free nightly tours was a blast... It was like he was our own personal tour guide. He's definitely doing something other hotels or B&Bs are not doing. AND the rooms look like a palace fit for a king and queen. I love the whole theme decor. What can I say... he's just the BEST!!!

Dear AllHaving seen the comments about Giorgio's House being in a borderline slum, I'd just like to add a few points as an impartial "poster" who has been to Palermo twice in the last year and absolutely loved it.1. A lot of Palermo is what people who live in suburban Europe/American would consider a slum. Let's face facts. It's one of the most deprived places in Western Europe. A million people live there. There is 20% and perhaps even 30% unemployment. Half of the buildings appear to be falling down/encased in scaffolding. Every car has a dent on every panel. Even the poshest hotel in Palermo will be 20 yards away from apparent squalor. Across the road from the Centrale Palace are alleyways that lead to the Ballaro market which we thought looked dodgy to walk down at 11AM ON A BRIGHT SUNDAY MORNING.2. Palermo is beautiful, noisy, exotic, sad, fascinating....I could go on forever. The food is the best I've eaten in Italy, the people are universally helpful and friendly [even coppers with big guns who try to get you a ticket from a tout at the football stadium], after two weeks there you've only scratched the surface. If you're careful, don't flash your camera/money about and look confident and not necessarily like a tourist you're likely to be fine wherever you stay. Whether you can learn to ignore the horror stories, and are able to teach yourself that it isn't as dodgy as your eyes are telling you is another matter.Enjoy places like Giorgio's while you can [likewise Chez Jasmin in the Kalsa] before Palermo gets smartened up and it becomes tourist hell.Paul
