PALERMO: The Pistacchio Cream
|
|
Very good breakfast this morning... Usually during the breakfast Giorgio's Guests can eat: Bread with Jam, croissants, Danesi with apple, pastries with crème, chocolate, sweet ricotta, Spiedini and Arancine but today we also tried the Pistacchio Cream.
Pistacchio is a deciduous tree of the cashew family, native to Europe and Asia, whose green nuts are eaten salted or used to enhance and flavour food, especially ice cream. (Genus Pistacia vera, family Anacardiaceae.) Pistacchio nuts are just one of a number of products and dishes to be found in the island which were introduced or were heavily influenced by invaders from north Africa and the Near East. Bronte is the Sicilian Capital of Pistacchio. Look out for the Pistacchio festival every year in the final week of September in Bronte and Italian readers can find out all you wish to know about pisatcchio nuts and the Consorzio di Tutela del Pistacchio Verde di Bronte D.O.P. here.
Made with beautiful, green organic Sicilian pistachios and organic cane sugar. A unique ingredient in premium pistachio ice cream. Pistacchio cream i salso very expensive!! Pistachio cream from Sicily!
A unique sweet blend that is ideal for breakfast treats, fruit dips or to use as a topping for cake or dessert.
Ideal cheese condiment for fine selection such as: strong blue cheeses like Cabrales, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Stilton; fresh goat cheeses. For a subtle palate try fontina or caciocavallo with a drizzled with fine balsamic vingar.
This nutbutter is made from the finest producer in Sicily are availble only through All Things Sicilian.
In Sicily they call this the "Food of the Gods".
Guests loved it and it made me very happy :o)
